Seth Dixon drummed up the courage to finally pop the question to his girlfirend. He had it all planned out… he bought the rings, he brought his girlfriend to a cute little bridge in a park, he got down on one knee… then he dropped the ring into the pond forever.
“It’s absolutely real. I wish it wasn’t,” Dixon told the Kansas City Star.
“We freaked out,” Salas added. “It ping-ponged from one plank to another. You could hear a little plop.”
The moment was caught on camera.
The couple returned the next day with a friend and a metal detector… no luck.
They then came back with friends from church to go through the pond… no luck.
“We probably had 25 people there. I think we had like 12 people in the water all at once,” said wedding photographer Staci Dabney.
“It’s been a roller coaster of emotions, to be honest,” Ruth said. “Honestly, I’m happy and excited that we’re finally engaged. Just sad I don’t have a ring to show for it.”
The couple has started a GoFundMe to raise money to buy a new ring, so far they’ve raised $261
