It’s difficult to decide which is more iconic, the phrase “you’ll shoot your eye out” or the soft glow of electric sex gleaming the the front window of the Parker’s home on good old Cleveland Street.
On Sunday, December 17th, FOX will be broadcasting A Christmas Story Live which will be a 3 hour live event. Now look, I’m a purist when it comes to Christmas movies. I’ll watch the original movie at least 10 times during the holiday season. I’ll have it on while I’m wrapping gifts, it’ll be on in the background while I’m baking in the kitchen and my family will even have it on during Christmas dinner. There are a few Christmas movies that simply do not need to be re-made, or in this case, re-enacted live as nothing will ever come close to the original. To all the movie producers out there, please do not remake the 1964 classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or 1989’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation or even Elf from 2003.
But, for some reason, I’m excited for this one!
Maybe curious is a better word to use. I’m curious to know how these new actors will compare to the originals. Will old man Parker continue to fight with his furnace? Will mother Parker entice Randy to eat his dinner like Mommy’s little piggy?
Nevermind how are the actors going to compare, how will they get Flick’s tongue to stick to a frozen flag pole?!
I suppose I’ll just have to watch and see. I’m kind of excited for this. Live TV events like this usually do pretty well, don’t they?
