That was the question posed recently in a gathering between Oh Doughnuts owner Amanda Kinden and HTFC Planning & Design’s Glen Manning and Rachelle Kirouac. The three met to discuss how design and doughnuts intertwine – or more broadly how urban design and new local eateries will change the landscape of downtown in the next few years. If you’re interested you can read their conversation in full.
So what does a Winnipeg doughnut taste like? Manitoba-grown rhubarb pie? Blueberry-stuffed polar bear claws smothered with a white-chocolate glaze?
What they landed on looks delicious and will be available for just a few days next week. Monday March 20 until Wednesday March 22.
“Beer Buddies is a flight of doughnut holes glazed with local craft beer and paired with wacky Winnipeg garnishes. Beer Buddies explores food as a social activity — an opportunity to share and connect with others (so share the pieces!) — and pays homage to Winnipeg’s diversity and entrepreneurial spirit, honouring the micro-breweries and specialty food shops that are changing the flavour landscape of the city.”
